Bad Day

You may remember the song Bad Day from a few years back. I think it was first made popular on American Idol. Here's my version of the song. Sing a long if you are feeling miserable, too.

BAD DAY

Here is the moment I dreaded the most
The effects of the chemo have taken front post
They tell me my blue skies have turned to gray
They tell me my smile has faded away
And I really am carrying on.

They told me mouth care was a must
It wasn't pleasant but I did it without fuss
Still my throat feels shaved away
I swallow and the invisible blades play away
And I really am carrying on!

(chorus)
'Cause I'm having a bad day
I'm taking one down
My mouth and my throat hurt all the way down
They told me it would happen
They worked to prep me well
But my throat and my mouth really hurt like hell

I'm having a bad day
I'm having a bad day

(interlude)
What I need is an Italian ice
It will help soothe and numb what feels sliced
And then I'll take those heavy drugs!

(Back to chorus)
'Cause I'm having a bad day
I'm taking one down
My mouth and my throat hurt all the way down
They told me it would happen
They worked to prep me well
But my throat and my mouth really hurt like hell

I'm having a bad day
I'm having a bad day

  1. Susan,

A clever way to let "your people" know they need to step up the prayers and positive thoughts!

No where near as clever, but in the spirit of a duck driving a big mac truck!

My oh my, you funny girl,
You remind me of a pearl.

    Pretty white, or maybe peach,
I found the pearl on the beach.

My oh my, you funny girl,
You remind me of a pearl.

I hope the discomfort diminishes soon, Susan. May tomorrow be a better day!

    Hugs, Joan

  2. Ugh...no fun:( EZ sucked on so much ice during his Melphalan infusion that he couldn't even speak, fearing he would get the mouth/throat sores. I have also heard of people who put ice on the outside of their throats to fight off the effects of such high dose chemo. Hope they have found something to relieve your pain.

  3. OUCH! well, the only silver lining I can find (and believe me, I'm really reaching here) is that you no longer have to dread/anticipate the pain. You can now live through it knowing you'll be coming out the other side soon.

I hope the soon arrives really, really soon. It saddens me to think of you in such pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you Susan 24/7!
